19th CPC National Congress scheduled to open at 9 a.m. Wednesday

The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is scheduled to open at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, the media center of the congress announced Monday.[Special coverage]

The opening ceremony will be broadcast live on China Central Television, it said.

A total of 2,287 delegates have been selected from across China to attend the congress.

The CPC national congress, usually held every five years, unveils new leadership and sets a blueprint for national development for the next five years and beyond.
