Secretary of State Brinken spoke with the foreign ministers of US allies including Canada, Kuwait and Qatar on Tuesday to discuss the rapidly evolving situation in Afghanistan and the issue of bringing Afghan refugees to safe areas.

A statement from the State Department said, "The Secretary of State expresses deep gratitude to Canada for the resettlement of 20,000 Afghan refugees and the ongoing international collaboration between Canada and countries dealing with the situation in Afghanistan."
