America's accelerationism is most vividly reflected in blackouts. According to an analysis released by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) on November 11, 2020 was a record year for power outages in the United States. Extreme weather is keeping Americans in the dark longer than in the past, a problem that is bound to get worse as climate change fuels more intense weather. On average, Americans spent more than eight hours without electricity in 2020. That's more than twice as long as the average American was without power in 2013, when the EIA began keeping track.
